Bellum Sacrum

The post goes out to all suppressed Muslims wherever they may be. And to the numb Muslim community watching on with a blank stare.

Blot out his name, then, record one lost soul more,
One task more declined, one more foot-path untrod,
One more devils’-triumph and sorrow for angels,
One wrong more to man, one more insult to God!

-The Lost Leader, Browning

The writings on the wall don’t lie. And the echoes were never meant to be silent.

A whisper of faith was all it took to connect. And a whisper of faith is all it takes now to be severed. For somewhere in the night, a cry goes up. Blood is spilled, a soul is set free. More bodies slain, more conscience lain to rest, as man persues his own idea of Heaven- and the devils smile wryly.

Cults from dogmas, and dogmas on fire… millions dead, millions doled out, and millions a-hanging… the altars have their own secrets to spill and stories untold.

And on the other side of midnight, the world lulls us with its lyre. And we in a dreamy trance, are amusing ourselves to death.

This hour was foretold. We were in a prophecy from history. And we are at present writing that tale in blood, watching it unravel- each one of us only looking for his own ending. For it has waned what had once brought us together. Weakened. Poisoned. Cheapened by silver and traded with the tainted.

Aye, we were a talk amongst a lofty group more than 1400 years ago. When the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was saying to his companions (radi Allahu `anhum):

“The people will soon summon one another to attack you as people, when eating, invite others to share their food.” Someone asked, “Will that be because of our small numbers at that time?”

He replied, “No. You will be numerous at that time: but you will be froth like that carried down by a torrent (of water), and Allah will take the fear of you from the hearts of your enemy and cast al-wahn into your hearts.”

Someone asked, “O Messenger of Allah, what is al-wahn?”

He replied, “Love of this dunya and hatred of death.”

[An authentic hadith recorded by Abu Dawud and Ahmad]

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُغَيِّرُ مَا بِقَوۡمٍ حَتَّىٰ يُغَيِّرُواْ مَا بِأَنفُسِہِمۡ‌ۗ

“Verily never will Allah change the condition of a people until they change it themselves (with their own souls).” [13:11]

And the writings on the wall don’t lie.

This is amazing Saadia, you have shared just the hadith I was looking for, I was wondering there must be some hadith in account related to the muslims and the over-increasing massacre, you my dear have just enlightened me 🙂

  2. Hina Jamal says:

This hadith clearly depicts our condition, may Allah remove the rust of our hearts! You have conveyed the message very effectively, mashaAllah, had to look up the meaning of the title though 🙂

  3. Right on target. It has to come from within though; the strong surge of compelling emotion that motivates us to be more than just a bag of flesh and bones taking up space. Insha Allah.

What say you?
