Do to others as you would have them do to you.

Salam,

Bismillah.

Today’s hadith has another tip for polishing our interpersonal skills. We talked about modesty, the five pillars of Islam, greeting everyone we pass by, avoid harming others, spreading positivity around, …etc. Ever wondered WHY these deeds are being discussed in the Book of Faith? That’s ’cause faith should reflect off our personality instead of our room decor (Islamic art paintings, prayer-mats, thick fiqh volumes that give an over-all ‘pious’ look). It’s the sweet, simple things in life that make the relationships beautiful and it’s all a part of faith.

Volume 1, Book 2, Number 12:

Narrated Anas:

The Prophet said, “None of you will have faith till he wishes for his (Muslim) brother what he likes for himself.”

That’s a simple one-liner to live by. Apply this tradition every time you’re making choices and you’ll end up doing the right thing. 🙂

Wassalam.
